Scarface
This movie was quite interesting, especially that I have never heard of it. At first I taught it was Al Pacino’s Scarface movie that I have previously watched. And it is quite different from the movie I have watched.
The movie Scarface, directed by Hawks was filmed in early 1930’s. Tony playing a role of a gangster who would assassin or kill anyone for money, and also to earn a position and power of which his boss already owned. Basically, he wanted that luxury life of his boss was living. He points out on few things and examples as he visits his boss one night. , like from his bosses girlfriend to his cigars and even his clothing style.
Most of the scenes in the movie look spooky and dark, especially, when it’s the shot where Tony’s got to murder some one. Scenes like this makes anyone think of real underworld. The story has its different parts like Tony being so careless and confident. But when he is at home with his family, it is a different world he lives at. He is more responsible and worried when it comes to his family. Especially, his sister, Tony loves his sister and tries to be very protective overtime. He does not like her around men. But Tony’s sister is mostly after money and luxury life. So Tony tries to make her satisfied with some money in her hand while Tony’s mother is totally not happy with this fact. But Tony’s sister is kind of a flirt and very careless. In my opinion, they are kind of similar to each other. They both want the luxury life no matter how much it costs them.
I believe this was Howard Hawks’s first movie. After this he made more movies but the Scarface movie gave him a rise in film industry.
